@mymailbox: Info sharing on EPF Malaysia

Somehow, i don’t like the fact that it’s quite troublesome for us to get back our money from EPF. I have never experienced it myself but based on the emails flying around for the past few years, it seems that there is a lot of process to do in order to make sure that your own personal information is up to date so that your money won’t be channeled to some EPF fund in case you pass away. I mean, this is our money, and yet we have issues like nomination names disappear from database, and now if someone that we nominate passed away, then the money will be channeled to some EPF fund. Hey, it’s our money, can’t we just have a standard rule like by default, pass the money to wife, else to parents, else to children and so on? Why do EPF have to make it so hard to make sure that our family members will get our money? Afterall, it’s our own hard earned money and not their money? Pfffffftttthhhh !!! Reminds me again on another issue that EPF suggest that they pay out our money every month instead of giving us our money in one lump sump upon our retirement…. prrrrrfffftttthhh !!!!! Hello, IT’S OUR MONEY !!!

Info Sharing…

If ONE (1) of our Nominee in the EPF Nominees list deceased, automatically the whole arrangement (EPF Nominees list) is VOID. Meaning if, you only put in One (1) name &  unfortunately he/she dies before you – automatically EPF will channel your EPF money to trustee of AMANAH RAYA upon your death.

Thou if, you DO have few names in the EPF Nominees list still – the whole arrangement is VOID & none of the individual balance name in the EPF Nominees list will get their potion & automatically EPF will channel your EPF money to trustee of AMANAH RAYA upon your death.

Piece of advice – if any of the your Nominee in the EPF Nominees list decease, please do immediately approach the nearest EPF counter & present the Death Certificate of the individual & re-instate you NEW / LATEST Nominee in the EPF Nominees list + NEW / LATEST percentage.

If, you & the other party (maybe spouse) involved in the same misfortune (accident / illness) that caused death to both yourself / spouse please, please, please alert your siblings / relatives / parents to immediately approach the nearest EPF counter & share the information within 3 days to AVOID all EPF money to be surrender to trustee of AMANAH RAYA.

Upon surrender to trustee of AMANAH RAYA, your children will have to battle the money thru 3 channels;

Majlis Agama

Pejabat Tanah

Mahkamah

The normal period via above 3 channels usually takes 2-3 years (except if you have inside/tip top connection) at Amanah Raya.

  1. I don’t know what you are talking but this is actually totally untrue. I’ve noticed that a series of emails has been circulating regarding EPF nomination, therefore I went to an EPF office in KL last month to check my nomination but everything was intact. I was so very relieved when the EPF staff reassured me that there have been no cases of lost or missing nomination details as claimed by some parties.

    I think we should always check and update our nomination to ensure that our hard earned money does go to the right person once we pass away.

    As for the monthly withdrawal, this is another flexibility given by the EPF apart from the lump sum and ad-hoc withdrawal in order for us to manage our retirement saving systematically or else, we’ll finish up all our savings within few years only.

    For me, rules are created to makes life easier and not vice versa. It is up to us to really read up and learn more before we start spreading news like this. We should check the facts before posting forwarded emails. Hopefully what I have found will put this rumour to rest and please don’t create unnecessary tension.

    • thanks for clarification… that is why i classify my posting under ‘@mymailbox’…which means stuff that i received at mymailbox…

  2. I am not sure about your post, but i do receive emails regarding the disappearing of our nominees in database.

    So, to play it safe i went in and check. They are indeed GONE with the wind. Had to rename again my nominees! Though the process is a swift nowadays with the much much better service provided in the EPF department. I have to say, i was surprised by the speed.

    With all said, it’s still a wonder why it’s gone in the first place.
