Seagate f*cked up real big time… attention to all Barracuda 7200.11 owners!

Ok. I came across this information by chance. You see, i was shopping around for a big HDD space for me to store my downloaded files and after searching around, i decided to go for Seagate as Seagate is offering 5 years warranty. And then when i visited Anandtech’s website yesterday, omigosh, i found out that there was a big issue with Seagate’s Barracuda HDD. Apparently, the hard disk will kaput or KO after a short period of usage. And the best part of all, it’s not an isolated case, and it seems to spread across few series of models. I was like, WTF ? You freaking guys can’t even catch such an issue during your internal qualification? And it looks like Seagate might have known about this issue and they are not proactive enough to recall their product to fix the problem, no. Instead, they waited till sometime around December when the number of failures increased sharply and then only they started to issue official statement. Come on guys, you screw up big time and it’s fair if you take proactive actions to notify customers and work on some plan to get all affected products replaced. You shouldn’t wait and let customers find out themselves. And what a timing, when overall demand is dropping, and Seagate manage to pull off this great screw up, i am very sure that they will take a big knock on their reputation this time around. For me, it’s definitely Western Digital next time around, i’ve had enough of Seagate at the moment. Period…
